Creativeness!

Recently we have had the crafty bug! I had really wanted to try making candles so we got a candle making starter kit and attempted it! We firstly used the mold provided and then we got really creative and carved out an orange and an apple and filled them with melted wax! They were pretty cool! Then yesterday I came home to find Andrea had somehow made 2 corgi dogs for the queen duck in the bathroom! They are awesome!! No idea how she made them though!

Follow the leader

We now have more ducks than you can shake a stick at. How cute are these little guys? The handsome chap in front was made by Alanah from felted wool and is sitting on a pond made of sea glass. Clever girl!

Finishing touches

We finally got the wardrobe for Alanah's room - thanks to C and D for donating it and to M for helping to move it!
We added some white handles to tie it in to the rest of the decor, and I put up the mirror above the dressing table. It's very nearly finished now! Exciting!

My busy week...

This week has been a crazy week! It began last Sunday when dan, guy and I took part in the pub quiz and came joint first! Then on Monday I went to the metrocentre for a day out! Callum and I bought puppet owls which has provided us with hours of fun! Then Tuesday I had my 2nd interview with Santander which I was successful in and have my final interview tomorrow. On Wednesday Callum and I spent the day in the pub annoying dan with a puppet show, to the point that dan went home! Thereafter Keith, Michelle, Callum and I went into Middlesbrough for dinner at nandos then back to the pub for a few bottles of wine! Thursday I had my 2nd interview at aldi which also went well and I'm going back for a work trial. On Friday I had a very chilled day then Andrea and I went to the pub with my friends. Andrea came back to the pub later on to collect me and I was very drunk but we did have a superb night! Andrea got on very well with my friend dan as he speaks Japanese so whilst the rest if us had a 'normal' conversation, dan and Andrea showed their geeky sides by speaking to each other in Japanese. On Saturday I went for a run in the bike with dan as he also has a motorbike which is great! Then today has been a chilled day. Andrea and I have been for a lovely walk as its sunny down here! Then we had eggy bread, beans and bacon at our new table!! Over and out! X

Another new addition

The old table has gone to charity and been replaced with this much handier drop-leaf version. I got plenty of exercise this morning moving everything around to see where it looks best. For now the table is under the painting and the fridge is alongside, but it I might change my mind tomorrow! The table is on casters so it's easy to manhandle. The fridge however is another matter... but it's all good exercise!

Spicing up the kitchen

I'm so pleased with how well this painting has turned out! Often I have an idea if what I want to achieve but the result falls short. Not this time. I'm really proud of it!

By the way, I don't think you really get a sense of scale from the photo. The painting is HUGE. Love it!

New freezer, Woohoo!

After lots of discussion, a cancellation, and a change of brand, the new freezer has finally arrived. It couldnt look any more in place snuggled in beside the washing machine in the utility room.

I'm delighted with it! And getting rid of the old one from the kitchen has freed up loads of space.

Next? The new sofas arrive in about 3 weeks. And Anthony the odd job man said he'd send me estimates for the rest of the work. It's all moving forward!

Halloween II

Last night I got dressed up for Halloween! Andrea made me look proper scary with her make up skills! There was a group of about 20 of us went out dressed up in Middlesbrough and it was a fantastic night! This was my second night out in Middlesbrough and I loved it as much as the first. Lovely people, great atmosphere and priceless banter! Roll on the next night out :)

Halloween

Last night I got all dressed up to go to a party. I had made my dress especially for the occasion, and I took ages doing my hair and makeup. Sorry to disappoint though Mum, this is what I looked like... Well it was a Halloween party!

Zoooombie!

So this evening I got dressed up for an evening out. This attire was not conventional though...

Sooo cooooool!

We have a shed! And it only took us 3 and a half hours! How awesome is that! I realise there is an overabundance of exclamation marks in this post, but I think they are warranted.

Shedded up

Today is all about the shed.

It was delivered on Monday, still in bits of course, and has been cluttering up the utility room since then. In the evenings I've been painting the parts I can reach with wood preservative, but it's a slow process cos there's barely room to swing a cat in the utility room, even when there isn't a shed in it!

This afternoon Alanah and I are going to (attempt to) build it. I've studied the instructions, naturally, and assembled all the necessary tools. All I need now is for the weather to stay fair and for Alanah to hold bits while I drill and hammer and probably swear a lot! I'm looking forward to it. I see it as just a mammoth sized jigsaw puzzle.

More photos to come...

Table building shannanigans

Well this evening I was overcome by the urge to participate in DIY! (Think I'm being brain-washed) anyway due to Anthony coming round today, the house is starting to take shape and felt inspired to contribute and therefore built the flatpack table that will be going in my room as a dressing table. I am very proud to report that this is the first flatpack item that I have built without messing it up annnd I used all the screws provided, normally there are some left and I just hope it doesn't fall apart!

Storage a-plenty

How fab are these cupboards in Alanah's room? They were just put up today by Anthony the odd job man. I think they'll be very handy for storing all of Alanah's rubbish, I mean belongings...

Rubber ducks

These little guys were gifts, 2 from Alanah's granny and one from my Mum. They haven't had a proper home until now, but they look very comfortable on the new shelves in the bathroom!

Is it a ladder, is it a shelf...

What a bargain! This cool ladder shelf normally costs 120 and I got it for 23! I love it!

Hello there!

A few weeks ago Alanah and I (Andrea) painted this awesome triptych of a poppy. Since this is the first objet created by the two of us, it deserves a place in this blog, even if it's not exactly news. It will eventually be going on my bedroom wall but for now it lives in the kitchen until the paint dries.
And here's a photo of Alanah in a very fetching outfit. Well, we were using oil paints so I suppose it was a sensible precaution. Not.

Welcome...to doooom

Hello minions....and mum.

We have decided to write this blog as I (Alanah) have moved to Englandshire to live with my amazing cousin Sheldon...oops I mean Andrea!

Our intention is that this online blog, hopefully will be easily accessible by everyone...including the wrinklies (with some step by step guides) and therefore you can all have a wee nosey at what we have been up to.

Hope you enjoy reading about our whacky activities and day-to-day life!

Love always,

Alandreah.
